So back in 2016 I started an isometric picture of Lethal Lava Land, recently I got in the mood to work on it again and basically started from scratch as I wanted to make the pieces larger.
It's far from being perfect but I am rather happy with this. =3
Comments would be appreciated. =3

The one by the log I think only triggers when you step on it, so I THINK it's in the right spot, the one at the top I am unsure if it moves freely or if it too is triggered when you step on it. I didn't have my N64 plugged in to accurately check, so all I could go off of was YouTube videos.
This is pretty amazing stuff, did you have any sort of reference to go by, or did you do it by eye and memory?
Comparing it to the actual 3D model, it's remarkably accurate.

I had a few things.
https://www.mariowiki.com/images/8/.....a_Land_Map.PNG Though small it worked somewhat well for at least as size and spacing references. I know that's the DS version's map but it's still very similar.
I also had an isometric view of the level that was likely used in a strategy guide or something like that.
Lastly I also referred to YouTube videos. One was very curious since the red coin placement was VERY different:

I expected certain things to be slightly out of place since I had to resize certain geometry as it seemed too large. But man seeing that comparison I did get things pretty close. =O

The DS map is a little different yeah, but I've no idea if they made actual changes to the layout.
That is a weird thing to do in your walkthrough video, deliberately falsify certain parts of the game for a "spot the difference" thing. That's going to confuse the hell out of people that don't check the description when they just wanna look up quick gameplay of something.
It's remarkably close that's for sure. :3

Since my placement for the geometry was more based on the DS map it seems as though not much has changed. As said I personally resized certain things, but looking at the comparison one thing that I made too small were the shallow pyramid like structures near the trio of Bullies near the top.
Yeah, it'd be different if you had a video of 1 star per level and you change something with which you want people to spot the difference in each stage, but to randomly throw it in because is rather odd.

This is also considering that those shallow pyramids continually submerge themselves in the lava, so their appearance varies.
It's very odd, and honestly I don't approve of it if you don't make this clear in the video itself. I'd probably just end up ignoring that channel entirely for daft things like semi-accurate walk throughs.

Yeah, the puzzle could be in many, many different arrangements, but only the ones that actually happen in-game on the set pattern. So it's actually pretty finite.
Doing a spot the difference across the entirety of the game would be absurd too, and most viewers aren't going to sign on for that.
Isn't the point of a walkthrough to confirm certain information you aren't sure about anyway? This whole thing ruins that.
By the way, it's pretty easy to view 3D models on a Windows 10 machine.

If you download the ZIP archive to a folder, and open the .OBJ file, it will load the 3D object into Paint 3D or another 3D Viewer program in Windows 10. No extra downloads necessary.

And really even in a 15 puzzle there are certain combinations that are impossible as well. If you had a 15 puzzle where the 14 and 15 are swapped like this for instance: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe.....-15-Puzzle.jpg It is impossible to solve it in that traditional set up, mathematically impossible.
Yeah I agree, for me since I didn't read the description since I had no need to I though that there was some other reasoning to the red coin variance.
Well I had no idea that existed before now, I found the textures but I wasn't aware the entire model existed.
I have no real need for that now though. =P

So it stands that there would be half as many impossible combinations as there are possible combinations, all based on the placement of one tile relative to the space.
At least the red coin variance is not some sort of unsolved gaming mystery like regional differences or beta builds. :P
These models are a somewhat more recent thing, I think it might pre-date you starting on this project but I dunno.
The convenient 3D tools in Windows 10 though are much more recent.
