Sadly we aren't dealing with competent writers. From their perspective, I'm sure they thought it was *so* epic. The delivery of course was hilariously bad, as we have come to expect from Sanic games. The only character with worse writing in my opinion was Sonic himself, utterly devoid of any real emotion or purpose. That perpetual smile is terrifying, and the unnecessarily bad jokes made me cringe every moment he had screen time.
As for the reasoning behind the art, after all that's been said... I tend to latch onto concepts that interest me with strong potential, look beneath the surface of what was presented to me, and come up with my own ideas. AU stuff, basically.
I also feel for the characters that get a lot of shade thrown at them, like this guy.
Also, he's fluffy. Like, really really fluffy. That helps. 💜

Today's Sonic games are absolutely awefull with him... I'm glad that I'm not the only one who CRINGE at his jokes and at his everything.
I wish those writers get fired.
They made a lot of potential creations/ideas, but the way they making it real is unbelievable.
I just stop following the news and stay freezed at SA2.
