Life was boring. No doubts about that. Living next to the town’s gym didn’t really help matters either. Heck, it just made the young man all the more frustrated as he watched new trainers strut by, happy with their pokemon, and go into the gym. Some came out defeated; others came out with Claire’s badge, ready for the Elite Four or to take their training to other regions.

But not for him. He’d never made the journey south to New Bark Town, never gotten his first pokemon, and most of all… never really had a chance to do anything. Sure, he worked the local pokemart, but just how worthwhile was that? To see people living the dream he’d always had? He’d gone east a few times and talked to Pryce and asked to study under him… but no luck. Pryce flat out refused to teach him unless he had a pokemon that could best him in a battle. So… here he was, working a boring job and talking to trainers...
