Warning: Angst and spoilers ahoy! I thought I was going to draw something fun and whimsical tonight but my muse took it in an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT DIRECTION. xD So this is some friendship fluff in the timeline of "Heaven Can Wait."
I started drawing a sad Nyxis and the idea happened on its own while I was listening to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MymiD577bc
tldr; Eflasia sacrificed her own existence to try and save her kingdom, and one consequence of that is no one remembers her, Nyxis included. Apparently I'm mean to my characters at 3 in the morning. ENJOY.

It was the most beautiful flower garden Nyxis had ever seen, as it had been created out of the memory of her castle home while she was still alive. Blossoms of every type, brilliant in all the colors of the rainbow flourished here. Petals fell eternally from the daytime sky, settling into ripples on the lakes and onto the cobblestone paths in her Paradise. In the distance a piano played, and the clocktower began chiming for noon.
But no matter how many peaceful places she made, no matter how many friends she visited--or memories of people she summoned, breathing and as real as they could ever be, for the extravagant balls or afternoon tea, it felt empty.
As the last chime of the bell rang, something peculiar caught her eye. She stared at the rosebush in the center of the elevated walkway. Upon it bloomed a single white rose. Her mind told her it was the only one in the garden. It screamed of something being terribly wrong as she hadn't remembered placing it there, but more than that of something dear to her. S O M E F
A word almost reached the tip of her tongue, and was torn away as quickly as she had been allowed to realize its existence. She stumbled up the steps, stopping abruptly in front of the rose. For the first time since she died, she felt for just a moment, what it felt like to be whole. Something precious had been taken from her. Something she'd fight for, a cause that was somehow far more important than her present duty as a guardian angel. Something she'd die...she died for. But what?
Surely it couldn't have been a stupid flower. Her fingers found their way around the stem.
This stupid flower. In one deft movement she plucked it and stared angrily at it.
HER favorite flower-- Nyxis squeezed the stem so hard, she bled. For the first time in Heaven, she felt pain. It's a place where suffering doesn't happen, but she remembered the feeling and the sight, that was enough to trigger the experience entirely generated by her memory. She allowed it, embraced it, craved more of it, this L I F E.
HER. She still couldn't remember, but she wouldn't let go.

I dislike leaving what sounds to me like disingenuous comments but.. This is beautiful. Should pat your muse on the back cause I'm definitely feeling the emotion behind this. Very nicely done. Besides as the saying goes, "Nothing good happens after 3 am." This is an exception.
