Seems Red has managed to acquire some sort of new macro power-up. Now the Angry Birds' slingshots are the least of those naughty pigs' worries...
I tend to find there are two kinds of pictures I produce these days. Those that I do for personal 'hornifying' reasons, and those that I do just for a bit of a laugh.
In case you're wondering, this is one of the latter.
I suspect there will be many of you out there who will roll your eyes at me for deigning to expand my list of misused characters into the world of Angry Birds. No doubt some of you probably despise the whole franchise, or are sick to death of it, or just have no interest in it whatsoever. And from a furry perspective, beyond joining the screen-gazing masses who have at some point become hooked on the original Angry Birds game, I never really gave the characters much thought myself either.
That was until The Angry Birds Movie came out a few years ago, when - much to my amusement - the cast of characters underwent a big anthropomorphic redesign and thereby acquired a new element: Feet.
Well, as stated in the Declaration Of Footsluttery (which I'm sure all of you should be able to recite from memory by now), "all feet are created equal". So my obsessed brain spotted a new opportunity and decided to 'go there'. Bad brain. Very bad brain.
Even so, the more I thought of how I could depict such a scenario, the more it just seemed to work. Angry Birds is, by its very nature, a game all about smashing up structures and pulverising pigs. Why shouldn't these characters, with their newfound lower limbs, be given the opportunity to explore their destructive capabilities in art form? (Especially with gratuitous size difference thrown in for good measure...)
I started this picture in late 2017, at a time when I seemed to be going through a mega birdy-feet phase (more fruits from which will hopefully emerge in the not-too-distant future). However, I only tend to work on pics when I'm - shall we say - 'in the mood' for them, and as this pic was more of a comedic goofaround than an attempt to produce something smutty, I kinda lost interest in it for a while. Hence it ended up in the latest volume of my Great Unfinished Collection.
Last December's 'comeback' gave me fresh impetus for a lot of things though, and as this project was already progressing reasonably well, I added it to my list of pieces I was keen to get done fairly soon. I resumed work on it in earnest about a week ago, and here it is.
As someone who first became familiar with Angry Birds through playing the original game, even though I've never seen the movie, I decided I wanted this to be a blend of styles. Red is therefore depicted very much in his movie form - anthro, realistically textured - while the design of the pigs and the background are obviously much more reminiscent of the classic game.
This was pretty fun to produce, though there were two real nuisance elements. The first was committing to going all out on Red's texture - which as you can imagine took quite some time - while the other was doing all the fiddly little bits of wood, glass and stone in keeping with the game.
Something I forgot to mention recently which has become a new feature in my artwork: I am now largely doing all of my work in exclusively digital media. In contrast from the pencil-and-paper drawings with which I used to begin my projects throughout most of my first 10 years in the furry fandom, nowadays I'm doing pretty much every piece with a tablet. Although I've never found it the most natural way of drawing, it saves me a hell of a lot of paper, and it does make things much easier when it comes to modifying sections, making copies and - of course - hiding the evidence...
As much as this was a funny little project that I did enjoy working on, I doubt I'll be doing much more with Angry Birds, unless the mood really happens to grab me again some day. From what I've seen on FA at least, these characters (perhaps mercifully!) don't seem to feature in the fandom much, and although I've always done my bit to fill 'gaps in the market', I do find limited true appeal myself in the very basic design of these characters.
Even so, Red makes a pretty good macro stomper, wouldn't you say?

I would find it funny if he was still catapulted in and then went on to take his time stepping through their structures while pulverizing them and the pigs. On top of that his personality totally fits here.
Always good to see surprises like this from you and it's a really good one at that. I love the details, how you did the feathers, the focused stomping, and the way you gave a feeling of his weight. You did one hell of a cool job RRR! ^W^

Man, I'm...I'm really shocked. I can't believe that you have done a macro/micro artwork featuring Red from Angry Birds. And you have done the movie version of him, that I love because the look that he has in the movie ^^
Anyway, the pic looks awesome! The background is beautiful, and you have realized so well our big Red bird, from the top of his feathered head, including all the ones of his body, to his plumpy toes. And talking of toes, the little talons on them is a really nice addition, considering that in the original design Red and the other birds, beside Mighty Eagle, doesn't have talons on their toes. And his expression says clearly that he's enjoying to destroy the pigs' wooden structure, witrh them having frigthened expression on their faces. Also squishing two of them under one of his big birdy feet.
Congratulations, RRR. Another great piece of artwork of yours
Also, the funny thing is that the character design of Red and all the birds in the movie was done by an Italian woman. So hurray for my country ^^

Always believe that I'm capable of churning out some sort of smut with just about any character.
You make a good point about the talons. I originally drew him without any, then decided I wanted to give him something just to make his feet look more imposing. I originally had them yellow, then changed them to black.

Thanks man!
Really!
Also I have a little question, always regarding your unfinished works,

I can see the Sonic's shoe!
Will ever do some other stuff with him?

Funny you should bring that one up. I've had one of those days at work today where my mind was repeatedly drifting to that specific idea involving Sonic. When I get a bit of time I'm keen to have another go at that.
Unfortunately it probably requires a complete restart because I don't like the way I drew the panels I've done on it already. Afraid it'll likely be a long time before you see any end product on that, but rest assured, Sonic (and other characters from the series) are still very much in my thoughts.

This was unexpected but certainly not unwelcome! ...Or entirely unsurprising come to think of it - all feet *are* created equal after all.
And whether it's to do more 'research' or the like, I'd recommend giving the film a watch when bored and in close proximity to snacks - there's one called Terrance. He's big.
But very nice work on those textures! Overall a very well composed piece :3

I meant to comment on this funny piece shortly after you posted it. I should've known that you were teasing Angry Birds in your Great Unfinished Collection IV. You tend to like creatures from obscure movies so long as they have nice feet.
Despite the cartoony look of this picture, I'm seeing a lot of nice touches.
What brushes did you use for the eyes, beak and talons and how did you get them to look so smooth?
