As Gartim is his master, Search makes sure always to protect him, however...
...it does give Search a little trouble that, whenever he leaves Gartim unattended for even a moment, he can be sure of him not being there any more.

Personally, I get the feeling that Gartim definitely likes being carried on the shoulder though.
