Just to clear up on how Meg, Kin, and Clint are supposed to be siblings despite being of different species.

Well, I look at a specie being inherited as such as any trait for a person. While the Lupine in The mom wasnt dominant, she kept the genes as a carrier which then appeared in the next generation.
So its just as likely for Kin to have a feline kid or for Clint to have a lapine kid.
It keeps me from going overboard with chimera types designs in my story like a horse having bird wings or a scorpion tail or such being child of two different species.
Though I do have chimera types, my explanation is that are just rare cases like Albino-ism or some rare genetic disease.
