ive gotten to hold a small dunkle's mandible before! i was shaking and almost cried lmao,, then ive seen a couple other full skulls in my time too, theyre huge animals :0
and yea ive read that too! i imagine it makes sense, considering how researchers think of their bone composition and the wear and tear they would get if they just hung out in the open without anything like lips. some of the reconstructions are pretty goofy... i think they would probably look a bit more like sharks in terms of fleshy tissue
