The new grass starter trades in his stick for retractable leaf blades when he fully evolves! :O
Before the real evolutions actually get shown, I wanted to jump onboard the evo prediction train! So until they are, I'm def. going with Grookey, and hoping for this mighty monkey in my party!
(I know he has a glaring weakness to flying, but I'm giving him Ice Punch so there! :P)

See I've seen a few theories for the starters and how they evolve coz of the trailer and how they're introduced, and the British aesthetic of Galar in general.
A lot of people like the theory of Grookey being based on the British music scene, drumming on that rock with his stick and his name being probably based on groove monkey. If he doesn't evolve like your predication, I'd like him to go on that tangent and become a parody of a famous drummer. I think my favourite was a pun on Ringo Starr from the Beatles, evolving into Goringo, or Ringorilla or something like that xD

The other predictive evo for this guy I've seen that I really like is a baseball playing gorilla with a big bat. Also a stretch, probably, but the musical themed evolutions feel even more strange! Not that they couldn't make it work ofc, will just be curious to see how they do it.
Most excellent!
I'm actually hoping that Scorbunny will evolve into a Fire/Fairy type - if only because almost everyone is predicting yet another Fire/Fighting type. Actually, I'd be okay with almost anything other than yet another Fire/Fighting type - though Fire/Electric, Fire/Fairy, and Fire/Normal are actually things I hope for.
Grooky certainly looks like a Grass/Fighting type could work for it. I could see it becoming Grass/Dark or Grass/Ground as well. Who knows? With the sword and shield theme maybe it'll even be Grass/Steel!
Sobble may become Water/Ground if there's not some surprise like Water/Dragon.

Honestly, I usually prefer to stay away from this kind of speculations, to avoid giving myself expectations the actual game could not live up to, but wow, that is one big, handsome monkey. I love how you made the fur of his legs looks like a pair of (assless) martial arts pants. Good lord, I'm going to drool all over my Switch if Grookey's final evolution ends up looking as manly as this simian stud (look what you've done, I've got expectations now). The only thing I find a bit frustrating though, is that you didn't explore the musical implications. I mean, Grookey's English name is "groovy monkey", "rhythm monkey" in Japanese, "tempo marmoset" in French, and all in all, the idea of a hunky gorilla drummer sounds pretty cool. Then again, a fight is like a choreography, that's why they are called martial artists, and your monkey brawler is really badass so, who cares. :p
Tbh I'd rather just draw what I want it to be rather than being forced to adopt Nintendo's latest starter theme category. So instead I stuck with grass-related weapons from his body rather than: he must be a drummer! I don't care if they're all musicians for... no other reason than Nintendo running out of ideas to differentiate the latest pokemon gen. from the last. I like my "mutant evolution" better already, and for now I can pretend it's real. :P
Yeah, I see where you're coming from. Personally, I love when they give some kind of flavour to the starters, as they did in gen 6 with the RPG classes, and I must admit that I got pretty excited at the prospect of a taiko-playing gorilla, but I can see why you prefered to explore another direction. Sorry if I have offended you, bringing out the drummer theory like that, it was definitely not my intention. It was just innocuous thinking, but now that I reread my comment, I realize that my wording was probably not the most elegant, my apologies. In any case, I wanted you to know that I really like this handsome ape. Let's hope that they don't forget to bring back the Pokémon-Amie... ;)
