The PokéMigawari profile on Twitter is hosting a contest on which you have to design an existing Pokémon's regional variation for the new region we got with Sword and Shield, Galar. This is my entry, I decided to go with a form for Gardevoir, one of my top favorite Pokémon!
Gardevoir are very protective of its trainer, so I thought a knight inspiration would work perfectly (its name in japanese is Sirnight, even!). It lost its fairy typing, thus becoming a dual psychic/steel type: a hardened and sturdy body made for combat, while keeping the psychic powers needed to predict foes' movements and intentions.
Galarian Gardevoir's steel arm plates adapted over time. One grew too much in size and became thicker and sturdier, thanks to the Pokémon's overuse of it to block attacks; the other, grew a long and sharp edge because of the habit they have on honing it for better attacking, thus becoming similar to a blade.
Gardevoir do have a preferred side as well, just like humans (left handed or right handed). Some have their shield located on their left arm while the blade is located on the right, though rarer.

Looks like Gardevoir is among almost everyone's favorites judging by the comments :3c And I love Versiris's animations too, I'm biased, but Gardevoir's one of my favorites from her!

Aaah, thank you so so much! I always get happy whenever people catch the little lore behind my stuff, and being told it's something that would fit well in the actual game flatters me so I purposedly matched Sword and Shield's descriptions to Gardevoir's newly added assets, and I was just so proud of my cleverness hahaha xD
I didn't win a place (the winners totally deserved it, they were some of my fav designs!), but everyone seemed to like the design so much, I may be doing the entire line sometime!
