IMO the real merit in this moment isn’t that it avoided some cliché, but that it cemented the character growth that’s been brewing the whole comic. We could believe that he’s a different person from the self-centered asshole that sent the hyena brothers into tears, but this was a tough and altruistic choice with tangible consequences serving as concrete evidence showing us such growth iinstead of telling us and hoping we believe the dialogue.

´cuz there truly is a distinction to be made for that.. ..especially-more-so, if this illicit whoring didn't ever occur in that specific town's limits
