A short story for the ever-wonderful

The story references the following literary works:
The Diesel by Thani Al-Suwaidi
Priestess of morphine : the lost writings of Marie-Madeleine in the time of Nazis
Like Hiromi, I wholeheartedly recommend The Diesel. It's short, but utterly gorgeous.

your title reminds me of growing up near the railroad my dad worked for, and the golden california poppies that grew along the tracks in many places.
i know diesel is used to refur to a lot of other things then the heavy oil engine invented by a guy named rudolf, and commonly used to power railway locomotives on none electrified lines, but i'm afraid that will always be what i associate the term with.

Okay, first and foremost, that image sounds gorgeous, and a quick Google search confirms that yes, they are gorgeous flowers! The idea of those along a railway sounds like the subject of a painting! And I get what you mean about the idea of diesel being completely linked to a specific memory. I think the original work is linked to railways, so it works!
