The palette choice is excellent, I especially like how the cool highlights of the nose and ears (and eyes, though that may well be the iris?) bring a nice contrast to teh rest of the scene. That or my monitor is in dire need of color correction.
Beyond that I absolutely adore the top-down perspective you chose, it aids the flow of the composition very well.
