A long revered member of the Celestial Court, he never truly had much of a role within ancient China until, one day, a star spirit brought word of a new land beyond the eastern horizon. One that, according to them, was immensely potent in power and while not civilized like how the mortals of China were, the mortals dwelling there were a great people worthy of knowing. Thus Shiryu was granted his role of being the Court's representative in this new land, and he crossed the great expanse to settle down at a great nexus of leylines.

There he was dwelt since, having built himself a temple and a dojo around it. He would take in Penance at some point later, and in turn welcomed the coming of the line of Anubis. With them, they founded what would become known as Sable City, with his ancient home resting on the highest hill the community was built around.
