Being a dark character to begin with, having a brighter background makes them stand out more, with the greater contrast, I think.

Yeah, that's why I went with it in the end. Because at first I made a low-saturated background (because that's what I often do,) but then I was like "wait, this character is low-saturated, they're blending in" so I made a slightly brighter background.

This turned out really well, but why isn't he wearing underwear even when he has pants on? I mean it looks really cool but like "Oh, I better cover up my legs but I should also give people a good view of my junk every time they look at me from the side." I don't mean to complain though, I find it really cool, really funny, and just the tiniest bit annoying. I have also now come to the realization that I just typed up a miniature paragraph on the pants of a skunk goat when I have a 5 page paper due tomorrow that I royally messed up the formatting on and have yet to do anything to correct it, an exam tomorrow, and a quiz today. What am I even doing with my life? Also just realized those pants don't have pockets

They're meant to be based off Japanese hakama, and I meant for them to be loose and flowy and unrestrictive. It is true that usually something is worn under them, and the openings at the side are a little too large, but hey, I'm still pretty happy with how they look.

You're right, though: definitely no pockets.
