Lupin's Zanpakuto - Chimei-Tekina Hana
I'm slowly working on my own 'Bleach' setup. I won't say OC because... well it's Lupin. It's me. Ha ha! But, considering they're a rabbit I wanted to put some real thought into what their Zanpakuto and bankai would be, so I did some research.
What I found was kind of interesting. I wanted a plant-themed blade but didn't want to copy Byakuya's Senbon-Zakura or Yumichika's Fujikujaku (or "Ruri'iro Kujaku" if you've seen that episode) so I looked into specific plants for rabbits, and I actually found that Lupins, specifically, are poisonous to rabbits. I originally just named Lupin that because Lupins were the right colours. But, after finding out that little fact, it set the wheel in motion for what I could do with their zanpakuto. If their own name was something that was poisonous to their whole species, maybe I could keep running with the same idea. So I looked into plants that are dangerous to rabbits and landed on Ragwort. I loved the look of the flowers and the leaves and based the zanpakuto's whole design around that. The hilt is the flower and the blade is a stylised version of the leaf.
As for the powers it has, I wanted to keep going with the poison idea. So, anyone who gets cut by Chimei-Tekina Hana ("Deadly Flower") will be poisoned and will choke on toxic flowers, eventually asphyxiating unless they're able to get an antidote or know a kedo move to counteract it. I'll be drawing an image for the bankai very soon :)
Side note: I amused myself with a little scenario when the other captain's all see Lupin's attack. I could totally see Shunsui being like "....Pretty brutal for a fluffy bunny, huh?" Hahaha
