While this chapter may be short, it will lead to the final part of me and her.

Bigger Mysteries
Two weeks had gone by since that first meeting and the digital robbing of the hotels had gotten a bit worse. It was enough that now a private investigator was looking into this. To the surprise of others, this person decided the best place to direct his focus was at the hotel Nicholas and Saya worked at. And now another meeting about the thefts was going on between the workers, Lance, and the investigator. The new person had stated that if the employees or boss knew anything or had ideas that it was best to share it to help him out. “Alright, let’s move on to the timings then,” the investigator said. The person was communicating by phone and a special one so the call couldn’t be traced back. Also the voice was distorted and twisted so nobody could find him by that way.
“Right,” another of the employees replied and held up a paper with notes. “Upon further investigation, we have confirmed the money loses at all the hotels seemed to occur mainly during local time but at random intervals. There seems to be no pattern other than the timings are wildly varied. It’s like they can do it whenever they want.”
“That information is extremely relevant,” the investigator said. “It suggests that given this, our suspect could very well be retried or rich.” Everyone looked up in surprise. Nicholas was the only one who didn’t as he already had his suspicions as to who it was.
“Despite how normally they don’t go after people like this, considering how this person is targeting the same brand of hotels around the world, but especially this one, there must be someone who’s rich or retired who is exacting vengeance or to ruin someone’s life. Of course, this is mere speculation by this point. But still, I recommend checking any history you may have with those kind of people in our society. We must consider every possibility. Please, continue.”
There wasn’t much more after that and the meeting was finished for the day. “Doesn’t seem like this is getting solved,” Saya whispered to her guy.
“No, I feel we’re one step closer to catching whoever it is,” he whispered back.
“You have an idea who it is?”
“I do but it’s too early to say. Something tells me I’m not wrong, but I don’t want to jump the gun in case it’s wrong.”
As it turned out, some did question this theory as almost instantly, the robbing’s changed. “I don’t believe it!” the boss of Nicholas and Saya stated. “Another 23 attacks?! Are these confirmed?!”
“Yes sir,” one of the employees replied.
“The day before it was another 23 locations around the world. They’re robbing one hotel every hour on the hour.”
“Considering this pattern has been going on for a number of days, it does punch some holes into the retired or rich person theory,” another worker said.
“Maybe not,” another commented. “Anyone can changed their habits.”
“You’re missing the point,” Nicholas stated firmly. “It does look less likely now. But that’s not the message we’re being sent.”
“Yes,” the investigator on the other end of the line agreed. “Ask yourselves, why every hour? Why not something else like say, once a week? Something’s not right about this.”
“What do you mean?” Saya asked.
“Think about it. As soon as we began to suspect that first idea, the pacing of the robbing’s changed as though to contradict that theory. Coincidence? No. Too convenient. This can only mean that our hackers have access to information about these meetings.”
“It’s obvious isn’t it?” Nicholas commented. “That this is a direct challenge to the investigator and possibly me since I told him those things.” While nobody else knew what as the fosky had told them not to ask. But it was about his girlfriend’s past. While her father was suspected at being the one and how the timing of Saya’s mother coming back into her daughter’s life after years of no contact running parallel in terms of timing to this didn’t add up. Still, even if he was involved, Nicholas was going to make sure he didn’t hurt Saya at all. The long-haired male was resolved to do so.
