Agreed. The time from antic to grabbing the box is really fast, there's barely enough time to register the antic is happening at all.

It doesn't look very heavy, because he doesn't have to pull the box over his center of gravity. Since he's holding in front of him like it's featherweight the entire time, it makes it look like he's either acting, or the box is possessed by an outside force that pulls it away from him towards the table.

Here's a cheat though - if he's holding the box there, and it *is* heavy, he probably would put his tail out to counterbalance - which means you can probably get away with simply changing the tail to fix the balance. :)

Your drawing is far better executed than any animation I've done though, mine wiggles like mad. :|

I'd try putting this on twos (or fours if you did it one twos). The weight is nice once he's carrying it, but the moment of pickup is way too fast for how heavy it looks when he's carrying it. Physics declares that the initial movement of the object would be the most strenuous.

It'd also be neat if the table shifted a little to the right after the box hit it. (:=
