Visual description: Celestia, a white alicorn with a golden sun cutiemark, lays on a rug of similar color pattern to her cutiemark. Her blue pink and green mane and tail flow away out of view. On her head she wears a golden crown with dark gold swirling designs and a purple jewel at the center. Her shining necklace matches ger crown. On each hoof she wears a light gold shoe of a fancy bootlike style. Her front hooves curls around a tiny purple bundle as her her purple shining eyes gaze down at the little sleeping baby dragon, an infant spike. He lays his head on the bend in her leg, his right arm underhis cheek as he sucks his left claw. The little dragon has light green fins lighter green underbelly and deeper green spikes down his back and tail which pokes out of his diaper to curl aroun celestias other front leg.

Thanks so much, Saphy. *Hugs* I'll be sharing some links for you to see the story soon through today's "Star Day" special. :)
I would have gotten back sooner, but the prep for the eye surgery ate a lot of time. :( I was really busting my tail to make sure I could get this over with as the eye is really just done. *Sigh*

I think about the times Celestia may seem to go too far in being a protective mother. But then I remember what she is really trying to protect -- precious things like this. So I don't want to be too quick to judge. If I am always one to show kindness and throw myself at her mercy, I can be certain beyond a reasonable doubt that she will receive me well.
(This train of thought reminds me of what I think of when I think about Jesus, except I never believe that God makes mistakes.)

In this picture, it's as though Celestia is Spike's sun, sky, and earth. I wish I could be in her arms like this!
I know that Spike can sometimes feel a little left out. In the end, however, I have to say -- I wish I could be in his position.
In fact, for a piece of FiM fiction, I plan to have a character named Michael Darlington (implied to have come from Earth, changing into an earth pony in the process). He wrote a friendly, compelling letter to the Princesses and the prince consort -- expressing his desire to help the stallions better learn the power of friendship. He becomes a royal servant for Canterlot and the Crystal Empire. Through his almost tireless dedication, he helps to lift up Spike, Shining Armor, and the royal guard in the process -- first, by helping them to appreciate their current position as little members of the royal family.

I have come to realize that Shining Armor is considered a full part of the team after all. His shielding power seems to be one thing Twilight cannot quite replicate without the rest of the Mane 6 to represent the Elements. It’s just that the plot lines typically knock him out of contention — like with the other royals who are not Twilight.
