The moon was high in the star filled sky by the time the abnormal creature made his way across the cooling sands of the beautiful land. Not being able to believe how fast the day had flown by since he was suppose to be back at the side of the one only he calls Goddess before the sun had left to bring days end. Despite being late he wasn't rushing back to the temple where she reined. The hefty paws of the guardian left behind scribbled prints in the steamy sand with each step he took on.
"Oh how the land never changes.."
Just a few simple thoughts escaping from his mouth instead of staying trapped in his own head to drive him mad. Its not exactly uncommon for sanity to slip away from those traveling in this forsaken desert. Is it the heat? The never ending sands? Lack of water? Who honestly knows.
Once back to the Temple of Bubasti the creature stood up onto his hind legs, crick crack went the bones and joints to form him back to the natural state of his being. To put it lightly he is basically an ancient wolf that can walk like the humans, he does his very best to avoid.
Barely being through the door before he heard some rather loud commotion coming from the chambers of his beloved Goddess. Which only caused him to roll his long clawed fingers into fists, the sound of cracking knuckles echoes through out the halls once he making his way down to the chambers.
The walls are draped with some of the finest made silk in the land that was given to the Goddess as a sign of respect. It wasn't uncommon for territories to give gifts in hope to keep piece through out the empires. Vases, gold, fine wine...you get the point.
Nekhura caught his eye immediately once entering into her corridors. Towering behind the few guards that were the ones in the room, causing an unnessary commotion about an evil presence roaming without different parts of the empire. True or not he didn't like their tone of voice they were taking with her, they obviously forgot their manners or even just common respect.
"You can't just sit around and let that beast continue to terrorize the villages! Why are you being so usel-.."
The guards sentence could not be finished as he had been lifted right off of the ground by his wrist. The creature they paid no mind to had enough of hearing these unnessary tones. The guards companions quickly jumped back toward Nekhura to turn around to face him with spears, simply spooked it seems.
A low growl rumbled from the creatures gullet once lifting the guard up to make eye contact, his blind eye almost seemed to be looking into the very soul of this feeble man.
"I believe you may have forgotten whom you speak to or perhaps who you even stand before? I will give all three of you the benefit of the doubt but if I ever find you in these chambers again. I will show you why I'm welcome to be here and why the Goddess keeps me so close."
All three of these men shuddered out their apologies to their ruler, this at least six foot tall wolf like creature would probably scare any simple human. When hearing the sorry excuse for an apology he lets the two go. The last guard was still in his grip until Nekhura gracefully stepped down from the small two steps that lead to her bed.
"Enough,Taku."
Was all that she had to utter from her lips to get the large beast to drop what he saw now as a useless man. The guard scuttering away without another word. In a few moments he made his way to her only to bow before her to show his respect. Down on one knee with his head bowed he spoke.
Forgive my tardiness, my Goddess. Time escaped me before I could even realize.
With head still being bowed he saw her feet move away from sight, lifting his gaze to see her gazing out of the window. You could see almost the whole stunning empire from this height. The two have been by each othets side for quite some time so he could easily tell she was lost in thought . Rising to his feet before he made his way to her.
"You may worry about them in the morning, it is late..you need your rest."
A soft sigh escaped her stress anger filled core. The creature moved himself in front of her to distract her gaze from everything outside of the temple. He leaned down to tenderly stroke his long tongue along her shoulder in hopes to show enough affection to relax her. With one gentle swoop he scooped her off of her feet and into his arms like she was his bride.
A soft breeze wisps through out the room, the silk drapes blowing in the most mesmerizing manor. Nekhura was placed down into her bed like she was as delicate as snow. Making sure she was settled in and comfortable.
"Tomorrow is a new day..a new day brings new changes.."
Lifting his hand to stroke her soft hair soothingly for quite sometime before she drifted off to sleep. The moon was eye in the sky by the time this occurred, remaining at her side to protect her from whatever evil presence is beginning to plague the place they call home...
I hope to continue this story!
I wanted to work more on my writing so I used this rough sketch to do so. ❤
