Not necessarily. Not all styles focus on that. Drunken boxing takes it to an extreme but there are other styles that don't care what you do or if you know what they are going to do, they plow through you with will and inner energy.

In C&S, Prowl is martial arts, Sierra is martial arts and boxing, Carc is pro wrestling, brawling and cheating. 'Slide improves inanimate objects.

that's cool. I kind of consider boxing and wrestling as martial arts or at least fighting styles. Aries already has a pretty well developed fighting style that is based on collegic wrestling, pro wrestling and football

As I understand it, the point of martial arts training is to build muscle memory, so that if and when the time comes that combat skills are needed, the appropriate responses can be made without thinking about it. Pure martial arts are artificial and largely useless outside the dojo/ring/competition; however, the responses learned by doing the exercises certainly are useful.

Since the supers would be expected to go hand-to-hand with super-villains, any training that might give them an edge in response time and type is a good thing to have, imo. Sure, Aries should definitely stick with his super-strength (iirc) schtick, but knowing a proper block (or better yet, a throw, followed by a submission hold) when the super-villain-of-the-week comes charging at him, fists leading, could save him a lot of pain.

Aries already has a pretty well-defined fighting style based on wrestling, football tackles and his own brute strength. Gemini could definitely give him some training tips but it would take so much time to teach him a different way of fighting that it would probably lessen him before he could benefit from it.

So, when Aries asks if learning some "kung-fu" moves would be a good idea Gemini says that it probably would not be a good idea and that instead he should work on improving his current fighting style.

You know for all their faults, you have some of the most level headed superheros I've ever seen in a comic.

And even if James needs to learn a little about the art of subtlety, I imagine New Dawn would probably appreciate his blatant promotional advertising.

Yeah but now they're admitting their faults, being openly (but not overtly critically) honest about their opinions of each other and actually sounding like realistic people. That's, rather sadly, more than can be said for a great deal of other comic characters on the market.

Taurus would get mad if Tom portrayed her as anything but a sexy superhero. Plastering pics of her naked or her parts everywhere would make her very upset and then one of two things would happen.

1. Some of her friends in Zodiac would take it upon themselves to teach Tom a lesson. This could be Gemini but could also be Sagittarius or maybe even Libra and Cancer might do something stupid.

2. She would alert the legal department headed by Beauregard LeSonne that someone is using her image and slandering her character on public television and in print. Then Bequregard would take legal action and make Tom's life an unending Hell on Earth. Beau is a very nice guy much like a jovial uncle or grandfather but when he is given a case, he pours himself into it with the single-mindedness of a great white shark. No mercy is given and no trick is beneath him. Borderline criminal actually. He made a deal with himself that he only gets to smoke a cigar when he wins a case. He is directly given cases very rarely (he hands off lesser cases to people that work for him) so when one warrants his attention, he is ruthless.

Either way, couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

On the other hand, his passing his rival off to Taurus is a brilliant use of the Nash equilibrium.

To be honest you can't help to feel that you hate the part of when you're told something that's actually true.

I have to say for the mare she's better off without the guy; I mean if he'd toss her aside that casually for a bigger set of breasts he's really not worth her trouble (even if all she wanted was a quick casual hook-up for the night). He'd be far more interested in his fun than hers, whereas Libra I'm sure would be more 'balanced' about it. :D
