A dog familiar.
His favorite things are: peat moss (for sleeping in), the smell of red clay, having itchy skin after a drizzly rain (he loves to scratch), and classical music.
Is mostly non-verbal (with the exception of creaky groans). Chalked up to a sort of botched, involuntary clairvoyance that causes him to hear everything in reverse. Because it dulls his reaction time he's often presumed deaf. He does seem emotionally literate, understanding faces and gestures.
--
During the winter months Howell becomes snappish and hard to manage, so his summoner lets him "off leash" into the mountains to sabbatical until Spring. During this time he becomes shaggy, grows a nasty beard, packs on fat and muscle, and makes confusing snowtracks down the mountainside.
Without anyone to temper his energies, his projected form becomes... unstable. Causing him to take on strange and terrible shapes. And do strange and terrible things...
--
Other stuff:
- Nobody knows why he leaves his tongue out so much. It could be too big for his mouth, or he just likes the way the air hits it.
- Lets off a strong musky odor like lavender... and day-old dog piss.
- Left-handed
- Has surprisingly good handwriting
- The dust that lifts off his fur is said to be a good "filler" ingredient for potions if you're short on something.
- My favorite part of him are his little chapped elbows because I love them on dogs and I love them on people
- Can be drawn bald, buzzed, or wearing a Caesar at the shaggiest.
- Fingers are too long so he walks on his knuckles.
- Note the tiny extra thumbs, like dewclaws.
- Is generally mild and slow to activity, but on the rare occasion he's sent to pursue something (or someone), he is relentless.
