Donny once trained and served as a Samurai. Time travely stuff.

He did have to change his look in order to properly serve and represent his Lord and Clan. When his time was all done serving his Lord and it was time for him to go home, he chose to bring the katana that his Lord has custom made for him back to the present. It hangs on his wall still today.
(Yes, I do actually own a katana that looks just like that)
