Stage lights. Brightest things in the world, for what Silver Wolf was concerned. He hated them. He did his business in the shadows, taking out baddies from behind the scenes.... But of course Showstopper would be one to enjoy the spotlight. A connoisseur of plays, Showstopper had tendency to be... dramatic with all his-
A spotlight clicked on, blinding Silver Wolf with its directional beem of light. He lifted an arm up to shield himself, but found it was hard to properly move with the spotlight on him. The audience... was watching.
"Welcome to the show, my lovely friend!" The shark, known as Showstopper, remarked as he teetered over to the spotlight next to Silver Wolf. "So kind of you to show up to my lovely performance art this fine evening!" The way he over-articulated his words made Silver Wolf sick to his stomach.... At least, he thought that was the case.
"You see, I have been growing a collection...." The shark snapped his fingers and the curtains opened up, revealing a large fish tank filled with many colors of fish. It was quite a sight, but Silver Wolf couldn't enjoy it, as he felt his arm grow heavy and his body became hard to hold up. The close on his back started to loosen as he felt himself falling to his knees.
"A collection I find would benefit from a lively convict, perhaps! Cichlids happen to be some of my favorite fish, y'know!" The shark lifted Silver Wolf's chin up. Silver Wolf could see his reflection in the monocle. His eyes were rapidly drifting apart form each other and his snout soon vanished to give way to a pair of large lips. His shoulders were vanishing fast.
"You can't... do this!" He exclaimed as Showstopper let Silver Wolf's head hit the floor. He began to pull himself forward, as he realized what was causing him to change -- the spotlight. If he could just... get out of it! He tried to drag at the baseboards below him, but his hands had no grip. Actually, he had no hands at all.
He watched as the fingers slowly molded together in very thin stumps. His elbows started tucking neatly against his sides as they disappeared into his belly.
"Oh, but you are certainly too late, my friend! You see... a fish out to dry... might as well die!" The shark laughed hysterically as he took his tophat off. Bending onto one knee, he did his best "jazzhands", a move he did that gave him the name "showstopper".
"N...n" Silver Wolf tried to speak, but he soon found he couldn't breath. The air around him felt toxic. It was too much. His lungs... er... gills... were going to burst! He gave one futile attempt to drag himself out of the light, but the more he tried, the farther the penumbra appeared to him.
He saw to both his left... and his right.... His hands were gone. There was no remnant of them. Just fins. The cigarette in his mouth was gently placed on the floor near his fedora, its smoke gently drifting into the still air of this accursed playhouse.
"So long, my oh, so sweet nemesis! You're sleeping with the fishes now!" With that, the shark grabbed Silver Wolf by the tail and threw him into the aquarium. He watched as all the fish squirmed and swam away from the sudden creature that landed in their midst.
It seemed Silver Wolf was not the first victim... and he would not be the last.
