Something I sketched during work. At first it started as two separate practice sketches, then I thought what if these two had a relationship. So I ended up sketching this up real quick (I ended up late getting back to work, but just had to sketch up the idea).

Here's the story I have for these two. The cat is the old dragon's adopted grandson. When the cat was still just a baby the old dragon was in a devastating battle with his own son. The old dragon felt that a dragon's strength and power should be used to protect the weak. His son didn't feel the same way and used power to spread fear and destruction. The old dragon tried to convince his son to stop, but the argument led to a heated battle. It was a fight to the death that the old dragon couldn't hold back for, losing himself in the heat of the battle. By the time he came back his senses, his son laid dead beneath him and the surrounding village which their battle led them to lay in smoldering ruins. The old dragon roared in anguish at his actions causing not only his son's death but countless others.

While in grief, the old dragon heard the sound of crying. Determine to not allow another life pass he finds the source of the crying under the pile of rubble. What he found could only bring tears to his eyes. Under the rubble was a crying baby feline beastman underneath a pair of charred bodies which the old dragon could only assume were the baby's parents. The parents used their own bodies to shield their child from danger.

Seeing as the baby may have been the sole survivor of the incident. There was no one else who could take care of him. No one save the dragon. The old dragon decided to raise the cat as his own. To this day the cat doesn't know the full story of his circumstances, but when he is ready the old dragon will tell the cat everything and will face whatever judgement the cat feels fit to give at the time. Until then he raise the cat lovingly as his own, whether or not it may lead to his end in the future.
