Characters from my Story "Meta". I redesigned them a while ago. I really liked how the atmosphere in this picture turned out ^^
A short story for this scene:
The sun was shining brightly the whole day, before it slowly made it's way to the horizon, ready for it's deserved rest. A bright orange color filled the sky with deeper red on the edges. The mission wasn't going to well. Still no sign of whatever it was that attacked the palace in the early mornings. They have been chasing it all day, trying to track and catch up with it. Both of them weren't that good reader of tracks, though, but the distinct magical signature that was left behind should be more then enough for them to follow and still, nothing. Crack! The ground made a sharp and protesting noise as Psytrue stabbed his staff into the ground. Their stamina was running out and they had to be careful not to get to tired when they found their target. The chance was very high, that they had to attack it and defend themselves. Crack! Another protesting sound was heard as the lioness stuck her staff into the ground as well. Heaving herself up with her hands and her back onto the only big enough rock to sit on, that she saw all day. Psytrue growled as he felt her movement and immediately set up straight. Phantomy shot a annoyed look at him. "Just move a little", she hissed. Psytrue growled: "I was sitting here first, so if you don't mind, this is rather uncomfortable.". The lioness squinted her eyes together and bared her sharp teeth for a moment. "You don't really expect me to sit down on the ground, do you?", she asked with as much hissing in her voice as possible and shifted her body a bit more onto the rock, so she could sit better. Psytrue growled a second time, but said nothing. He moved his tail away and spread his back-spikes a bit further apart. Silence fell immediately. The area they where in was deserted, an old battlefield, no one even remembers anymore. Only the sound of their breathing was heard but one could feel a faint crackling in the air. The whole situation was very uncomfortable for both of them and their both made the other one know it, by the disapproving looks they gave each other over their shoulder. After what seemed to be around an hour of time, they ended their rest, stood up and took their staffs from the ground. Without a word their continued their hunt, more tense and tired then before.
