I felt inspired enough by the ‘Synth’ species that  Vader-San came up with and kindly shared (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30498471/), that I decided to have a go at making one of my own. Ever since the stroke I’ve had various cyberpunk and synthetic life philosophical themes on the mind a lot, so making a synth character seemed like another fun way to explore that. Also, cute.

So, introducing Dek. Like many synths they’re friendly and helpful, and happy to step in to handle tasks that might be more risky for their organic colleagues. With a few basic modifications and some temporary equipment this can extend to extravehicular activity when a space station finds itself in need of external repairs, for example, and Dek is certainly never going to complain about that view.

When off duty Dek is relaxed and easygoing, and often sort of quietly philosophical about the similarities and differences between organic and synthetic life. The way he sees it, we're all machines; all valid forms of life. One just came about through deliberate and active design, the other through environmentally-driven emergence over billions of years. Either pathway is deserving of respect, wonder and awe.
