Here are a brother and sister, Otto and April.
Their story began when each of the orphaned toddlers were adopted by Wayne and Beulah Rayne, a childless fox couple. Being the same age, the pair entered school together and did quite well. Often teased for their mismatched species parents, they both ignored their critics and excelled in their schoolwork. Each of the siblings received college scholarships and April even met an aspiring
Palomino stallion business student named Brent 'Dashing' Ryder while working towards her degree. Dashing was planning to marry April after their college graduation and the two got their careers off the ground.
One stormy night, Otto and April were driving on a back road outside of Atlanta as a shortcut. As the storm ranged on, meanwhile, in a large secret cavernous chamber beneath the Maddog family mansion, Dr. Samantha Maddog, the brilliant collie medical doctor and scientist, was experimenting with her prototype teleportation device. Samantha often created special crimefighting equipment for her sisters and one brother, members of the canine superhero group known as the Collie Squadron. Her dad and stepmom, Ben Maddog and Rupee Punjab-Maddog, were the leaders of the group.
As Otto and April's vehicle moved on during the storm, a sudden bolt of lightning split a large tree near the road. Otto tried to steer around the sudden tree as it fell into the road, but instead wrecked the vehicle, sending it over an embankment. Minutes later, Dr. Samantha Maddog teleported herself near the fallen tree during her first successful teleportation experiment. Hearing the wailing horn of the crashed vehicle, Samantha rushed down over to hill to find the wreckage and that the two passengers were severely injured and barely alive. Being a medical doctor, Samantha knew she had to act fast or the German Shepherd dog and the Arabian mare would die on the spot. Realizing that time was precious, Samantha reset her teleportation device and reached out to touch both of the injured fursons. With one burst of teleportation energy, Samantha had managed to teleport herself and the critically injured Otto and April back to her underground laboratory.
Her superpowered brilliant mind working in full gear, Samantha was determined to save their lives through advanced bionic surgery. With the help of her family, Samantha placed the adopted siblings on operating table and began to work. It was a grueling pace to perform two live saving operations at once, but Samantha would NOT give up, designing new cybernetic parts as the operation proceeded. With her Collie Squadron siblings helping her throughout the evening, the courageous Doctor Samantha Maddog had succeeded in saving the badly injured pair from certain death. In the course of the operation, Dr. Maddog had managed to give the pair two bionic legs, two bionic arms each and an implanted micro computer system to keep their new limbs in perfect function. Over the months as Otto and April were recovering, Samantha noticed one unexpected side effect of her operation. Each of the mini computer systems somehow integrated with Otto and April's minds, making each of them super intelligent as well as able to access electronic devices with their minds. While April's emotions remained strong, Otto was now more stoic, but both were grateful for Dr. Maddog's efforts. To repay Samantha's kindness, the two joined the Collie Squadron as Automatic and Starlight Mare respectively. Over time, Otto fell in love with Samantha and got married, though often her sisters Abby and Vicki would tease her about 'marrying a robot.' During Starlight Mare's first solo mission, through working together with the magical feline Osceola, she accidentally acquired magical powers. Rupee (Super Genie) quickly trained April to use her magic properly. Shortly after that, April married her finacee and moved to Equine Falls to raise a family of two colts and two fillies. April's oldest daughter June, now a teenager, was discovered to possess the same level of magic as her mother, and now fights crime as Dreamlight Mare.
This brother and sister duo have certainly lived an interesting life and have even more adventures awaiting them now that the Collie Squadron has come out of semi-retirement.
