Star Wars: In the Star Wars universe, Matthew was a grey Jedi from the Old Republic Era whose home planet was Alderaan. During this time, the republic hadn't had a great threat for centuries, until the Sith Empire eventually returned and caused chaos throughout the Galaxy. The Jedi were the republic's only hope to stopping them from taking over. Since Matthew was a grey Jedi, he had his own beliefs, meaning he didn't agree with either the light or the dark side of the force.
