I really like next gen AUs but i very rarely have any ideas for them. This is just a headcanon for one of my OTPs, SoarinDash

Sky Watcher is a young pegasus, and only child of Rainbow Dash and Soarin. Sky is fully aware of the expectations of his family, friends, and just about anyone- How could the child of the two greatest Wonderbolts be anything but perfect? Even Sky knows he has a lot of potential; He's quick-thinking, resourceful, notices the little detais in the big picture, brash, and predicably, a fast flyer.
He comes off as head-strong and arrogant like his mother, however... He actually has very little faith in himself.
He pretends to have it all together and know the solution to everything, just so nobody can figure out how anxious and unhappy he actually is. How can he compete with the saviours of Equestria? How on Earth could be possibly live up to his parent's glorious name?? He may have potential, or maybe everyone just thinks he does.
It's not even as if he has a sibling who his parents could focus on. Nope. Equestria has their eyes on him, any sign of weakness will send a wake of dissapointment and embarresment to the whole World. Or at least, that's what he imagines.
Thankfully, Sky isn't completely alone with his thoughts. Fluttershy (his god Mother) and Karma (His best friend and god sister) both know and understand Sky's anxieties, and offer Sky a safe place to talk without him thinking he's letting someone down.
Sky enjoys finding patterns and butterfly effects, especially in the weather. As a filly he'd always watch the sky for patterns and try to predict how that'll effect the future weather, like calculating how much sunshine the county will get based on the average wind speed and cloud count. He was rarely wrong with his predictions, and enjoyed the quiet time to himself. For birthdays, he asked for weather-watching equipment to discover the air pressure and dictionaries for different types of clouds.
His family were supportive of his hobby, so long as it didn't interrupt his studies or flying practise. Even future Wonderbolts needed to pass the time somehow, and pegasi were naturally interested in weather. Can't train if a storm was coming, could you?
Sky became an apprentice cloud maker after primary school, being the few in his class to have a cutie mark. After reading a report for a schedualed storm, he realised that the thunderclouds being made were too thick, meaning the pockets of cold air in the clouds would need to be heavier and denser to break through, and a microburst of wind could cause extensive damage somewhere.
Not being wrong about his deductions before, Sky tried to warn his mentor who was wary to believe him- When his family and friends stood by him, they finally changed the thickness of the individual clouds and instead opted to create more, thinner clouds to release the rain.
Sky earnt his cutie mark and realised that weatehr watching was more than a hobby for him; It was his future to find patterns and dangers in the atmousphear, and report inconsistencies that would otherwise be missed by others.
Sky adores his cutie mark and his career, but is still never truly sure if his parents are proud of him, despite what they say and do.

Damn I had to do a lot of research about storms and wind to come up with this backstory, and a lot of guesswork of what weather-things ponies can't actually control. Oof
