It was happenstance; 'a chance-meeting,' as they say in Middle-Earth.

To be more prosaic about it, Cassie encountered him when the two hailed the same cab. The Spanish xenokeryx merely bowed and opened the door for her. He was maybe a full head taller than she was and impressively built.

His English had the most amazing accent to it.

Cass caught herself stammering as she begged off, saying that she'd wait for the next cab. Xavier told her his name and wouldn't hear of leaving her waiting. They would share the cab, with the understanding that he invite her for dinner and dancing at one of the city's best restaurants.

How could she refuse?

Xavier was a perfect gentleman throughout the meal, explaining that he was a competitive weightlifter and spending some time in the city before the next flight to Madrid. For her part, Cassandra managed to keep up her end of the conversation, despite her silly grin and the blush that was threatening to burn her facial fur off. She could scarcely recall afterward what they had eaten for dinner.

Her one concern was that her 'sister' Dani would show up, and wreck everything.

The dancing was wonderful. For all his bulk, the xenokeryx was quite graceful on the dance floor, and Cassandra felt good in his arms.

Still, she told him all about her boyfriend Bruce, and how she wanted to stay faithful to him. Xavier smiled as he paid their bill and arranged a cab to take her home.

He held the door and kissed her paw before she got in and went home.
