And the journey's on!

Hey....are those bugs they're riding? I borrowed from
tegerio's The Ballard of Alder Young because the idea of them riding horses was just wrong. Also, one of the detectives is a horse so there's that. I could have gone the "riding reptile" route a la
Walt46's The Black Chapel trilogy, but I'd planned for there to be scalies in this story world too so that's also a no go.
Using insects as beasts of burden and the like also solves the "what carnivores eat" question that comes up for these types of things. I'm hoping this isn't too jarring again.

Daphne Lage's Tall Tails also had a horse riding a horse. Me? I always though it kinda jarring although, I could see really hilarious character banter about that:
Fox: Hey, man, tell your mom to stop bucking, I almost fell off the saddle!
Horse: Yiff in hell, godammit!!

ROFLMAO. On that page I mentioned, I now remember it was Silver looking at the anthro horse, dressed in sheriff's department clothing, and he was looking back at her. Someone had commented about there being anthro horses and feral horses in the comic (Swords and Sausages) and had a hard time reconciling the situation. So, Jan drew that page as a joke.
