So the tournament begins for my Shine. I feel the fight is a good one and definitely much longer than the last time I did one. Also you learn what my last name is as well and finally meet the younger brother.

The day for the tournament came in bright and early. Nicholas and Shine were up early and dressed before heading out the door with her weapon on her back. They made their way to where the vixen had trained, but this tournament was taking place higher up in an arena that the female had never seen before. It was large for the seating with a perfect square fighting area for two fighters to battle. Like Nicholas had told the vixen, the 12 fighters would go and only one would emerge victorious. The vixen felt ready for this after being encouraged by her fosky boyfriend. The two made it down and it was where they had to part ways as Nicholas was watching with the other rulers. “Don’t worry, you’ll do fine,” Nicholas said to his vixen girlfriend before they did.
“I know,” Shine purred as they hugged.
“Remember, feel; don’t think. Trust your instincts. And do your best.”
“I will. I love you.”
“I love you to.” The couple shared a loving kiss before separating.
Shine was directed to the waiting area. The vixen was here first but not for long as a couple more of the finalists showed up. Ashelin did as well and the tigress glared at Shine who sent a smirk back. The vixen also knew she would hold in her wings for as long as possible during this as that would be her secret weapon. Nobody would expect Shine to have those in such a short amount of time. However, once that shock was over, it would be known. A thing like that only worked once. At least her outfit for this was to reflect the past life she once had as Ish. Cyrus then came into the room after all the finalists had gathered. “Welcome!” the male stated. “Before we get started, I’ll go over a few things. You’ll each draw a number and we’ll choose them at random for the first round. We’ll do so again until only two remain. Also killing is forbidden. However, if you knock the opponent out of the arena, they stay down for ten seconds, give up, or are incapable of fighting, the match will be over. As you know, I’ll be judging these.”

One by one, the fighters came up and drew the numbers. Now all they had to do was wait for the tournament to begin after the guests arrived. They all were slowly doing so. The rulers and Nicholas were in special seating where they had a great view of the arena. That thing was made of grey stone and square shaped with grass surrounding the outside of this. After that came a small wall where the first row for the audience was behind and then the rows went up. “You think Shine’s got this?” Ralis asked Nicholas as all the rulers knew the vixen made it to the finals.
“She does,” the fosky replied. “I believe in her.”
Cyrus then stepped out onto the arena with a mike. “LADIES AND GENTLEMAN!” he stated. “WELCOME TO OUR ANNUAL FIGHTING TOURNAMENT!” The crowd roared. “THIS TIME WE HAVE A NUBMER OF NEW AND OLD FACES HERE! WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, LET’S ANOUNCE OUR FIRST CONTESTANTS!”
In the waiting room, the contestants heard this and saw on the screen in here what was going on in the arena. A billboard that was electronic began to flash with the different names. Everyone waited. Then two names were pulled up. “FIRST MATCH! SHINE VS LUCAS COLBALT!”
Shine’s eyes widened in shock as did many of the others. That was Nicholas’s younger brother. She had been told about him by her boyfriend and met the younger fosky but wasn’t expecting him to fight against her. “Well this is something,” Nicholas and Lucas’s mother said who was watching with their father in the audience.
“I never expected this,” Kenshin the fire ruler said from where he sat.
Shine and Lucas looked at the other. The younger fosky was one inch shorter than his older brother and looked more like Nicholas’s father. His hair while brown was much shorter than his sibling and looked to be a bit bulkier. On his back was a mace that was dark in color. It had points but these came up and the head of the weapon looked like some kind pointed tower. The younger fosky and vixen made it out to the arena. The audience cheered for them and noticed Shine was wearing a normal looking top. But her bottom while being pants had two flowing parts that were golden in color and went to the length of the knees. These were to represent what Ish wore as Shine was the reincarnation of her. It had been Nicholas’s idea for what his girl would wear during this.
“So we’re already fighting,” Lucas said with a grin. “I won’t go easy on you just cause you’re dating my brother.”
“I won’t either,” the vixen replied. Ashelin was watching this from the T.V. screen in the waiting room.

“FIRST MATCH; BEGIN!” Cyrus stated and the crowd roared. Lucas drew his mace as Shine did with her staff, the spikes coming out. The fosky charged in.
Before the first clash, Shine was able to see a couple of things. Her opponent’s weapon, while not having as long of a reach as her, would provide greater power. The vixen figured she should use the length of her staff and speed to her advantage. Also the weapon she wielded could block multiple attacks from different angles. The mace and staff came in as Shine planted her feet and spun in to meet Lucas’s attack. Despite the guy’s power, the blow didn’t jar her arms like it would have in the past. The vixen instantly spun her weapon around and struck with the end of it. Lucas leaned back and the weapon went whistling past his head. The younger fosky jumped back, gathering a bit of energy in his left paw. With a shot, Lucas fired a shot of wind energy at Shine. She saw it coming and slammed her staff end down into the ground, bringing up a barrier of light energy that deflected the attack.
“Not bad!” Lucas stated and came rushing in. “Try this!”
The male swung his mace in while Shine deactivated her barrier shield to move her staff in to counterattack. She saw that the fosky was handling his mace similar to how one would wield a sword. The guy even switched his weapon around in a reverse grip from time to time. Shine wasn’t fazed by this and ended up striking with her staff from her left paw and in a reverse grip. The two warriors came in to a standstill and the vixen launched a knee into Lucas. He blocked it with his left paw with the palm open. The two then broke apart. “Amazing,” Oren said while watching this. “Shine’s really gotten stronger and better.”
“Course she has,” Nicholas told her. “I made sure of it.”
“What do you mean?” Atem then asked.
“In the time leading up to this, I told someone to give me a month with her. Well as it turns out, it only took three weeks for teaching Shine a certain ability. What do you think she did with that remaining week? Certainly not sitting on her ass. So she spent the last week fighting everyday as much as possible against her first sparring partner Hotaru. As a result, Shine gained even greater strength, stamina, and power. Along with resolve.”
The other rulers heard this and then turned their attention back to the fight. Lucas and the vixen were now apart and eying the other. “Well, you certainly have what it takes,” the fosky said. “I was hoping for that.”
“What?” the vixen asked.
“I have won this before but this time I wanted to see who else would be involved this time and fight new people to gain experience. Above all I wanted to see who else could make it. When I saw you signing up on that day for this I had a feeling you could make it to this. But seeing you do so proves how worthy you are to stand by my brother’s side.”
Shine felt flattered and smiled herself. “Others have said things like that that I am,” she said. “Hearing that makes me happy.”
“Good. Which is why I’m going to show you what I can do.” Lucas let out a shout and his wings came out. There were the same shape as Nicholas’s but the color was red for the feathery parts and the other was dark brown. The guy took off. But the vixen wouldn’t use hers. Not yet.
“Take this!” The male fired blasts of wind from his weapon and free paw. The vixen moved, using her staff to help cover ground. Lucas came in with his mace and even though the female blocked it, the force was enough to send her to the ground. Shine growled through the pain and quickly got up. She turned to see Lucas had landed and came in with a yell. His mace came down and Shine blocked it but staggered back. The fosky came in for an attack and the female had to roll to get out of the way. The blow made a cracked hole in the arena. The two exchanged some blows and then Shine lashed out with the spiked end of her staff and scored a hit on Lucas. Some blood appeared as one of the spikes had punctured him. But he countered with a wind blast as she did with a light one. The two elemental attacks canceled each other out and the two exchanged blows. Shine was then knocked back and skidded a little on the arena floor.
The audience and those watching weren’t cheering but just watching this. Hotaru was as well. “Come on Shine,” the female red panda whispered.
The vixen saw Lucas coming in but now his wings went back into his body. He swung down and she rolled back on her feet to avoid the blow. She came in and Lucas ducked on her blow. The guy came in with a thrust and the female was able to block it. Shine then saw their fight had taken them over the arena but they were a bit closer to one of the edges. She knew if this dragged out, Lucas being stronger could make her tire out quicker. Better to end this now then drag it out. There were more fights ahead of her. And Ashelin would be the toughest one assuming the vixen and tigress fought. Shine broke off from the clashing weapon and spun her staff around in a circle, gathering up energy for a powerful blast of light. Lucas saw it. “I won’t let you!” the male yelled and threw a blast of wind at the female.
Shine didn’t even try to dodge it as just as the elemental blow reached her, she had gathered enough energy. With a shot, the vixen raised her staff up and from it beams of light came out. These formed into one that surrounded the female’s weapon. It now glowed with the power of light. Lucas shouted and jumped forward, his wings coming out. The vixen shouted and swung her weapon. It was a perfect timing as the flat end of the head of the staff connected with the male’s head and unleashed a powerful blast of light energy. The audience and those watching shielded their eyes as it was blinding and felt it the power behind it to. “Did she do it?!” Ralis asked.
Finally after what seemed like an eternity, the light faded and the ones watching slowly looked. They saw Shine standing there still in her attack pose. Dust was beginning to settle. And there, out of bounds was Lucas, slumped against one of the walls. “THAT’S THE MATCH!” Cyrus stated, recovering from this first. “THE WINNER IS SHINE!”
The audience members roared while she looked up in surprise. Nicholas smiled down on her as he stood up to applaud. His girl had done well. Hotaru was feeling the same. Medics came out to take Lucas away to recover. He wasn’t hurt too badly, but had been knocked out good. Shine then had to step off the arena so the next fight could happen. The vixen was taken to a spot right next to the waiting room that had a pool of water. This liquid had recovering properties so her energy and strength could be fully restored and wounds healed. Normally in battle, there wouldn’t be this, but for the tournament, this was allowed. Lucas was quickly brought back and alright with this. He grinned, stating how he thought he had been fast enough but Shine had been a split second quicker. The fosky then told her to do well in the rest in this before joining his parents to watch. Shine felt good, but steadied herself as she knew that this had only been the first round and there was a ways to go.

I don't know how many more chapters there will be for this tournament, maybe one or two more. We'll see.
