Bit of a thought experiment regarding FFXIV, which I have some vague interest in trying out but don't know if/when that'll ever actually happen; this basically started off as "I should draw Durandal as a miqo'te" and went on from there.
* In just about every thought experiment of this stripe, Vince remains human. In this case I figure he'd start off as a Machinist and upgrade to Gunbreaker (totally not because I thought the latter would make a better discipline/job for him after inking, no siree); maybe he starts off as an easygoing merc, only for multiple disasters to harden him somewhat?
* Conjurer seemed like a good job for Durandal (initially had him pegged as Alchemist, but I doubt he could ever be persuaded to wear a monocle). He probably supports Vince from afar--Vince isn't going to soon forget how Durandal's talk about equally capable in melee turned out to be a bluff--and makes embarrassing cat noises whenever Vince gets affectionate with him, which is often.
* Since Durandal and Cortana are twins, whatever he is, she is, so Cortana's also a miqo'te. Cortana does have some proficiency in magic but prefers to jab eviltons with her lance; swiftly became friends with Vince in no small part over his ability to keep Durandal out of danger.
* So, Shadowbringer will introduce playable viera, but despite what older concept art might tell you, you can't have bunny men. (At least we got a sorta-counterpart species to go with them?) I say: Tycho would make an excellent bunny man because he's ill-tempered and aggressive at most times. Viera!Tycho keeps interrupting whatever Vince's party is up to because he doesn't like Durandal and wants Vince to himself (Tycho will only admit the first one).
* Would Caliban have enough sewing skills to be a weaver? Who knows, but this made slightly more sense to me than carpenter; he's an Au Ra because Caliban is pretty closely associated with snakes at this point and Au Ra have scales. As usual, Caliban should be kept as far away from Durandal as possible.
[Note: Caliban is a Marathon OC more-or-less jointly created by myself and a friend of mine, Piinutbutter. Caliban is a manipulative little shit]
