Since I already had a model for koopacooper's 'Leana' due to a commission, I did a sketch of her as a Mud Scout, much like the pic of CBobcattie. The pattern is: depict each recruit in a clean uniform first, then set 'em loose in the bogs/swamps/marshes, etc.
Having only taken a couple of hours to do, this pic will be inked and colored later, as I'm hopscotching between a couple of other timekillers during this long weekend.

Leana is looking very smart there in her brand new, smartly pressed uniform. I wonder, how long shall it remain clean? Especially as she is already standing, and slowly sinking into, teh mud...
Thanks for drawing her in the wedge-heels I suggested, the variety of shoe styles looks better imho (after all, a regular Scout troop invariably all have different shoes too). :)

I just thought, Leana should theoretically sink faster than the other Mud Scouts, since her weight is distributed differently. The wedges mean that she's putting more pressure through her toes so that she can walk, rather than spreading her weight over the whole of both feet. Coupled with the fact that there's not much sole under the toes of the shoes to begin with, and those shoes shouldn't protect her feet from the mud for long....
The wedge has a narrower heel, so that end would sink first, I would think. She does have her weight on her toes here as she's testing the island, hence the sinking at that end. From the photo reference the wedge didn't look high enough (about an inch) to preclude her putting any weight on it normally.
When I checked my PM's for the link to the shoe pic, I tried to save a copy, but that silly zoom-and-pan script kept getting in the way, so I screencapped the page and cropped out the pic.
There is actually precedent for Mud Scouts having maryjane-style shoes--the reference material provided to me (graphics for a planned MS website) showed some of the girls wearing flat-heeled maryjanes. Tina is going to change to something similar, but with a thicker sole.

Not that I can tell, every pic I've done brings more interested parties out of the woodwork. It's all a matter of squeezing in enough time to do the artwork amid competing activities..and taking the time to make each piece better than the last one.
More frequency of material=more interest, as you snag folks who may also be into the material who didn't see it on the frontpage. And having keywords on each submission helps as well :)

Hmm, I've got to thinking now about possibly putting my vixen in similar situations. :) Though she usually wears knee-high hi-heeled boots. At least she'd never get her feet dirty. ;)
Also, if you ever feel like putting any Mud Scouts in naughty scenarios, Leana is up for it. The first commission pic I had done of her was this little number: http://i50.tinypic.com/2yudoae.jpg (NSFW)
Well, if you've got a tail, use it! ;D

Well, the concept isn't really mine to do that with :) ('Preppy Marshmouse' originated it), and it would kind of mess with the idea of the concept being "good clean fun".
I wouldn't have any problem with the anthropomorphic Leana I designed being used as a model for future Palcomix commissions (although what I designed is pretty close to how they would have drawn her anyway :) )

Her left foot is on the last bit of solid ground. The mud is what's surrounding the mound she's starting to sink into with her right foot. There are tufts of grass on either side of her on the "shore", and smaller ones growing in the soft ground.
The actual color pic that I'm working on (in between shoving some videos out to YouTube) will have a few more of them, since the backdrop is made entirely of stacked sprites I can clone and rearrange, much like "Mud Scout CBobcattie" and "Penny's Bog Trot". The outline-less backdrop makes the character stand out more from her surroundings.
