Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: City Dwellers Announcement
Hello! Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: City Dwellers has been rolling around in my mind for a while, and it’s starting to come into fruition! It will be a 2nd person POV prey game, in the PMD universe; thus, only Pokemon being present.
It will be a text-adventure, much like other titles on FA like ‘The Hotel’, and alongside lots and lots of writing, will have audio, and maybe even art!
Planned Features include:
-Many, many types of vore
-Respawning! No true game-over, but being able to jump right back into the action!
-A town, including a Treasure Town [Market] District, an official, established guild, and a bustling outlaw guild as well...
-About 12 shops! Each with a developed concept.
-Lore! The town, guilds, and some characters have history and lives, and you are a stranger, walking in, learning as you go.
It is still in the planning stages, certainly, but I want this to kinda be inspired by those who would play it; so, at this early stage, I want to inquire about a few things, taking free suggestions, at the present moment.
First: Miscellaneous Pokemon NPCS! I won’t say that all of them will be full, interact-able parts of the game, but a lively, diverse town needs its denizens! So, just throw them out there if you might want them to be seen! ~
Second: Shop ideas? While I have the standard and beyond finished, such as a bank, storage, cafe, general store, and more, you might have an idea brewing in your mind! A shop concept and a Pokemon to run it is more than a perfect suggestion, for I want this game to be as expansive as I can make it.
Thirdly, for the other creators out there: I mentioned that I envision there being audio to accompany scenes, and maybe art. If you want to contribute, collaborating for a part, I would be more than happy to discuss! There’s nothing I can offer, except all the credit I can give, but please, comment or message if you’d like to collaborate!
That is all, but as thanks for reading and showing interest, I do have a snippet of writing, to both show the writing style, and a snippet of the lore’s premise….
[ “I know it sounds improbable, but we did hear it from our own Guildmaster, and I don’t doubt his word. And, it can be possible; you know what dungeons’ energy does to Pokemon. I see no reason that it can’t have an effect beyond its’ boundaries.”
“I suppose what’s the most unbelievable is what the rumors say that it does to Pokemon, though! I mean, aggression is reasonable, but this is just… I don’t know whether to call it primal or disgusting.”
The Roselia nods, and their chatter turns into other, irrelevant topics. You drift away to other side of the path, returning to your own thoughts. What did they mean? You know that Pokemon in mystery dungeons turn aggressive, but that’s in dungeons exclusively! Still, you keep the knowledge of this rumor in mind as you proceed onward, until you finally reach the entrance of the town.
A wooden sign boasts ‘Peridot Grove, home of the Treeshroud Guild!’, cleanly painted and nestled between a pair of flowering trees. Just beyond, you can see a square tent, propped up just before the buildings of Peridot Grove begin. ]

I've always been a fan of an idea like this, after playing stuff like The Hotel and Theta all the time. I've always wanted a pokemon version of such, and would be totally for this idea. Personally, I could see a lot of interactivity with not only just the shops and guilds, but random encounters, be they bandits or new friends willing to give you a 'ride' ;3. You could also probably have multiple playable pokemon characters, like the usual starters in PMD games, and more with the newer games out. Though that would force you to generalize what the enemies are interacting with to make it fit.
As far as content goes, I think it'd be tough to start off with much like visuals and such, but you might be able to get some vore audio from someone willing to donate what they already have. In my opinion, this would be a big "If you build it, they will come" sort of deal. If it gets a lot of success, you could invest in patreon off of donations (If you're comfortable with that, I know some aren't, even in fear of copyright stuff, so maybe some other alternative.) and use said donations to get art and such.
Unfortunately in my case, I have nothing to offer in content, rather than suggestions and super heavily biased preferred pokemon I would want to see. (Get a neat Luxray going in there, and you have my full attention!)

A Luxray sounds like an excellent NPC!
But, thank you for your wise words! I do think that yeah, art may be pushing it for its initial creation, but it seems like a nice thought for the far future!
I do have a number of starters planned, which would change certain descriptors (Such as mentions of fur vs. scales vs. feathers, etc.). I've chosen a good selection from the previous games' starters, hoping to cover multiple mammal-based Pokemon, as well as feathered and scaled ones!
Rather than a Patreon, I was thinking that if this particular project could benefit from a ko-fi? It seems a lot more accessible for the masses, especially for just an optional, 'list your price' sort of situation that you can find on sites like itch.io.

You sir, have my attention then! If you want my other heavily biased Pokemon suggestions, I'll be happy to list >w>
And no problem, I think Ko-fi would be the better option, as sometimes seeing that patreon label can be something that deters people. And variety is good as far as playable characters go, just be sure to not overcomplicate things and burn yourself out!

Ko-fi def seems like the favorable option. It's gotten a lot of trust and preference lately, and yeah, people are more willing for little payments than patreon pledges.
I'm aiming for as much variety as I can, trying to cover ground, I suppose, for there's no other Pokemon game that I've found like this, and that I also really need a big project to dive into. If you do have any more 'mons you'd like to see, though, don't hesitate to suggest!

But of course!~ Of my personal favorites I would hope to see, besides the one I already listed, would be Lucario/Riolu, any eeveelutions while definitely including Sylveon, Vaporeon, and Flareon (of course), Floatzel/Buizel, Zoroark/Zorua, Charizard, Lugia, Absol, Mightyena, Braixen/Delphox, Zeraora, ninetales/vulpix (as well as their respective alolan forms) Lycanroc (any of those forms), Suicune, Lopunny, and Typhlosion, all in no particular order. I... think that's it, but I probably forgot some knowing myself. As you can tell, I lean more to the furry trash spectrum of pokemon, haha >W<;
And yeah, Kofi would probably be more reliable too, since Patreon changes how their system works like every few months, and they've been known to hit vore stuff off their roster before considering how it happened to some artists a few months back.

To build on this suggestion, it's probably best if you have an optional toggle you can turn on at the start to add a minor subtle 'warning' that the next scene will involve digestion instead of endo. Like you toggle something on and it says...
"You sense that something awful could occur if you keep going further..."
"You sense that something awful could occur if you keep going further..."
I do think I'll cover different ends! I'm going to be using a concept that many PMD-verse concept writings use, which is inclusion of reviver seeds. So, I think a multitude of ends can be achieved, weather with hard vore, full tour, endo, and digestion, but work in the universe's logic.
And, I think that a warning might be good! It'd probably be a simple choice at the start, but I'm still figuring out how I should go about it, considering that there won't be any true 'death'.

Maybe the main character in particular doesn't hang onto reviver seeds, but has an item as part of their "Explorer Kit" like a device or orb/jewel that protects them and their belongings. That way you don't gotta keep stocking up on seeds or just pretend you have an infinite amount. Like a hold item imbued with the power reviver seeds usually have, a scarf or bracelet of sorts perhaps.
And as a side note, I think it would definitely help make the game rather than break it if you put warnings before certain vore types, -especially- if you're putting extreme category stuff in there that involve gore. Without the warning labels, the game becomes a minefield at that rate, sadly. ;w;
Hmm. Well, a less creative suggestion would be a Meowth in charge of a Bank or Nugget-exchange sort of shop?
I can see a lot of fun with a Lickitung running a Fruit Stand. Too stubby arms to pick and handle wares, having to rely upon its tongue in everything.
Mayhaps a Smeargle running a store related to Paint or Fashion? Either as a Dye-Master for scarfs and bandanas or as a designer of homes and houses?
Oh! A Conkeldurr running a Hotdog Stand! I dunno, the idea of this old, murderous-looking geezer with rock-crushing fists begrudingly selling dogs amuses me.
A Mienshao herbalist / apothecary could be nice. A middle-aged female with both a mind and body honed into patient perfection, making teas and salves.
And because I am biased as balls... a towering and motherly Nidoqueen doing... something! Anything. I could see her native maternal instincts making her a good
replacement for Chanseys in a healing center. Being able to produce various toxins and such could also prove useful for creating antidotes. I dunno. =P Love Nidos.

Good ideas! I think that Meowth might actually do good as a 'knock-off' vendor, with items from EOS like reviser seeds, oren berries, and other 'look-alike' items. And the Conkeldurr sounds rather funny! I always loved its design; so utterly intimidating, but also a bit silly...
I do agree with possibly adding a Nidoqueen! I was looking for additional shopkeepers for a clinic building, and the poison / antidote aspect could add a few interesting fetch quests!
Thanks for your suggestions! They really helped!

Yeah. I've gone through my fair share of both writer's and art block, and I really don't want to sink back down...
I'm trying to make it diverse enough that I don't tire from the idea as a whole, but thank you for your considerate comment; I'll keep my own health in mind!

You have my attention. Just as others have said be careful to not ruin your mental state. If it comes to it pull an embryss night and slow your work load if you start wearing thin.
If I may take the moment to give my attention if you include a dojo (in town or random in the field) might I suggest it be run by a flygon? the mon is under represented and being a dragon/ground it'd certantly have the move variance to fit with such a role.

I do already have a dojo-like establishment planned, but I agree- Flygons need more rep! Perhaps, then, it could fit as a guild member, or an NPC just hanging around in the aforementioned training ground.
And thank you for your consideration. It definitely seems like slow and steady is the way to go through this project.

I've never had the opportunity to play a Mystery dungeon game so I do not know any of the kind of shops they would have, but seeing as this is an interactive, I am gonna just assume the shop could be really any kind of service you wish to add so I will throw out a suggestion.
Fortune teller: Absol- the pokemon can sense when disasters will strike. Seeing how this is a vore game, I'm sure she or he could be used in a way to warn players of choices that may end in unfavorable ways such as death.

Ideas for characters!
Lapras always makes me happy, as the sea always relaxes your nerves, makes you feel nice and safe.
Zoroark! Lurking in the shadows, waiting to swallow someone up.
Snake pokemon will work finely: Seiviper, Serperior, Arbok, Milotic to name a few!
Same size vore is one of my favs. Here are a few examples: Lucario, Greninja, Charizard,
Premarina, Hydreigon, Aerodactyl, and a few more.
Rare events should lead to legendaries.
Lugia. Defenetly one of my all time favs, since she has it all: a wide maw, long neck... everything I’d want.
I feel Latias and Latios could contain shrinking, or go a long with the same size premise.
Rayquaza. Need more said?

Yeah. I think I saw in another game that they made a 'sense' option upon initial interaction with characters, so I think that I'll do a system like that, so those who want the more weird things can access it, but those who don't can avoid it.
Also, thanks for the 'mon suggestions! I'm definitely considering having legends!

I'll throw a Wailord in the ring, since why have a town NPC when you can have a town IN an NPC? Kyogre could also fit this role, and both can work for mass transit across the seas. Would also be nice to see a friendly Flygon help you be able to cross a desert. After all, gotta get to those dungeons somehow, and I doubt you'd be able to get to all of them without any help!
