April is one of the two months I take off from art. This year, I'm gonna try and spend most of the month trying to model a base model character. My plan is to have make a non-gender body but I'll probably end up making a male and female base model. For non-human characters, well, that'll have to be done on a case by case basis.
Luckil, most of my characters are of the humanoid form.

I just hope I can do it. This is as far as I got in early 2017 before I had to stop for the non-stop 50+ hour work weeks, https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26671619/ I still got this model but I want to start from scratch because I haven't done this in about 2 years.
Btw, that link was Blender's old interface. This has the new one, https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30763028/
It's much cleaner, less intimidating and more modern!

That’s why, at first, I didn’t use Blender. It was just too intimidating. Sketchup just looked clean and simple. The problem with sketchup is it chokes severely the more geometry you make. Plus, to do other things like cloth simulation, you need an extension. Blender does so much and it’s free. It just has a bit of a learning curve.
Plus blender does more organic modeling better. Sketchup did have a warehouse with models that are free but not always the best.
I think for some outdoor and indoor scenes, I might just buy models on DAZ 3D and use blender to make my own custom scenes.

There's just some stuff that would take too long to make everything by hand. Just look at my Sketchup scenes. Pretty much barebones for scenery and a lot of things in those scenes are models someone else made.
I'm gonna finish up one more pic with a new character and then start the character modeling learning. In between, I'll poke at other Blender things.
