So, y'all know this little guy right? This is the newest incarnation of Poink from the Funday Pawpet Show. Now I've gone through a few of these, and they've gotten rare. I need to send out a shout to a very dear fan who sent me a new one to wire up; I just finished him. Now, for the next one; I'm thinking of going custom; I saw a lovely ferret puppet based on the Folkmanis design at MFF, and I'm thinking I need something a bit sturdier anyway, since these little guys go through a lot of abuse. And he's ready in time for Sunday's show, which will be the 10 year anniversary. I also tried something new with the eyes, which I think diffuse the glow better now and will show up a lot better on camera.

Nice!
I always thought it would be fun to try:
2x Lilypad tri-color LEDs
1x Lilypad AAA power supply ( or Lithium Ion power supply, little trickier, but possibly longer life per charge)
3x Slide potentiometers
1x Blood pressure cuff
some conductive thread
and some resistors
Slice open the pressure cuff, put the slide potentiometers in, and wire them up to the tricolor LEDs and power supply with some resistors to get the right current flow. The LEDs and the conductive thread you can sew in place - (in fact, you should probably look into conductive thread regardless, it might be easier to wire Poink's eyes with that!)
Result: FERRET MOOD EYES, that can be shut off, turn pure white, or any color of the rainbow. :D
(Oh, and any order up to $100 placed with SparkFun on Jan 7th is entirely free, according to this article on their site. :D)

It also might be easier to use a Lilypad Arduino and simply coding it to set the LEDs right than tweaking all the resistors etc to a point where they're juuuust right based on the potentiometers. But then you have to get into using arduinos and programmable controllers and stuff ;p
