Another day, another freezing cold afternoon in this blizzard. Or what I can only assume is afternoon, the snow's blowing too fast and randomly for me to go anywhere at the moment. I've been stuck in this safe haven of a cave for seems like almost a week, nothing but roots and other herbal remedies have kept me alive and going but I definitely need to find my way back to my village soon. I still have all the cargo they're going to need with me and I can't risk losing it to some blasted snowstorm anyhow, it's not like the cold is bothering me, but those winds are strong enough to blow anyone away along with burying them in a foot of snow easily. There has to be some way to both cross through this snowstorm and not have it become a snowy tomb for myself as well. With my food stores empty, satchel out of nearly every remedy I have besides my cargo I have to venture out, no matter what my village needs these supplies desperately and I'm the only one who can help them. I clasped up my cloak as tight as it would go and was immediately blown back hard from the winds, with little to no footholds to keep me planted into the frozen earth as I crashed right into a boulder nearby. I'd later wake up covered head to toe in snow, but It had let up just a tad, enough to let me progress slowly and carefully back up the mountain. Although, as I kept moving along I felt as if I was being watched by something, it was rather weird that no other animals could be seen around where I was, it made sense given the blizzard but there was nothing except the sound of winter. Wait, there's more, falling snow, trees rustling, the wind howling and.... wing beats? I listened a little closer and indeed I could hear the fluttering of wings before a large body crashed almost right next to me. Approaching carefully it was a rather large owl wearing nothing but a pair of sweatpants, knocked out cold yet alive, wearing frozen over glasses. Hah, another victim of this horrible snowstorm, I can't just leave him out here to freeze and get buried, but I don't want to lose all my progress either and head back to the cave. Bah, he needs some help and i'm here to provide it, I hoisted him over my shoulder to bring him back to the cave. We arrived quite fast, I managed to prop him up on a makeshift table to see what was wrong with em and wouldn't ya know it, his wings were rather damaged, it was a miracle he stayed in the air for as long as he did. Binding up some cloth and using the last of my medicinal herbs I let him rest and took a little rest myself as I awaited for him to wake up. After a much needed rest I awoke to him up and about and uh, staring right at me, seeming a little annoyed. I informed him of what happened earlier, he checked his wing and shook off the bandages, saying he was fine, yet I was worried how he'd fare in the blizzard after his rough landing. He told me he'd be fine and asked if I had somewhere to get to as well, for my rescue and care for him he said he'd take me out of this horrifying weather, but just this once. Finally, another caring soul who could help me out of here, I agreed without a second thought and took a second to prepare my things, although he told me to strip down and hand over my satchel to him. A bit confused I asked him why, he just responded with a chuckle and pointed into his bright blue hued beak, stating i'd be flying as cargo, needing to keep his arms open for flying. Well, I didn't have any other good ideas so I just followed what he wanted, handing over my cloak and satchel but hesitating a little bit as I stared into his bluish maw, I sheepishly asked if I'd be okay while he flew, I wouldn't want him to crash again with me in tow. After expressing my concerns he simply laughed again, put a hand on my shoulder and shoveled me inside, he was clearly a predator of merit, his experience showing as how easily he managed to down me. Being packed down into his spacious avian form as I heard him about to take off, he muffled what I suppose was a hang on before I could feel a sort of gravity shift, knowing I was now airborne and halfway down an owl. He does seem trustworthy though, it's quiet, soft and spacious as I asked him his name, something I probably should have asked before I slid down his gullet to which he muffled back, Wheatley. So, I guess for now I'll just enjoy the ride and see what this experience brings, maybe I've made a new friend and don't know it, or maybe I'm just a free take away snack.
