[Animation-WIP] Gejhi - Double Kick
I posted this around in some Discord groups and on Twitter a day or so ago, but I figured I'd start trying to occasionally post some WIP/progress updates here also.
This attack is going to be his "n-air" for the primary attack button. The dark slash attack is going to be moved over to be a "f-air" for the same button instead. I figured The slash can serve as a disjointed poking tool with some follow-ups, while this attack, being faster and active longer, can serve for more aggressive options, leading into more combos on grounded foes and causing a soft juggle state on foes in the air. This attack is already functioning on him with this animation as it is seen here, and it's turning out to be a really, really fun move. I still gotta tweek it and adjust it to the final animation when I finish it, but this was a great addition.
Various details are still missing from many frames, mainly the tail and a leg from a few. The scarf is missing from all of the kick so far, is the last thing I'll be adding in. Various parts are still in rough solids, nothing dummied here like a couple of small parts in the Ciacyl - Cresent Kick animation, as that habit is going away. The transition over to Aseprite has been quite a good thing for me. Reworking how I approach my animations, not relying on layers anymore ended up getting me to tap into some new potential. I've gotten considerably faster and cleaner with my work, and spend a lot less time cleaning my work after all the layer hassle I used to do in Fieworks. From this, I've ended up pushing my frame rate and counts a bit higher for smoother work. I'm generally happy with my progress in terms of the work creating this stuff.
I figured I'd share these WIPs here and there to show my workflow and skill progress.
