It was only very recently that I had decided upon tackling two passions deeply at once.. As gemstones have always called to me, there's another very deep old love of mine that I had set aside since childhood, as opportunity and time just was not right.
Well, the new location I moved to allows pets of just about any sort, and after a dispute with a pet shop I had once highly supported, I figured to do the right thing; open a rescue. Oh but not just any rescue... While I have been in love with the three bearded dragons (which shall get their debut soon), as well as the recent corn snake, I was inspired to open a snake rescue. It took only a matter of 2 weeks to become entirely booked with requests, both in true, permanent rescues, as well as temporary housing.
Now, back to that absolute shit load amount of wood... In pursuing this recent dream, something occurred that I had ~never~ expected to happen in my life. I've always loved large snakes. Even have fond memories of holding and handling them when I was extremely young. However, there were a few species that I had always been overly eager to get close to, or even own. Turns out, an even stronger dream came true, as I am expecting to soon care for a pair of adult red tailed boas, but even more stunning than that.. I'm actually days away from owning a gorgeous female Reticulated Python.
After hauling some wood in, I figured to snap a pic of how ludicrous this whole task seems, as the final enclosure will be able to house 2 snakes separately, standing at 56 inches tall, 6 feet wide, and 2 feet deep. It's massive, but it's necessary for potentially massive snakes.
I suppose most folks may call me crazy for even bothering to try putting my efforts in something such as a reptile rescue, and in a way, they are right. I've been needing more truly constructive and meaningful things to stay busy with, and aiding with animals in need is exactly that.
Beyond the up to three large snakes (the retic is confirmed, one older red tail is 99% confirmed, the other red tailed boa is 20% confirmed), I've also had a numerous amount of requests to help with up to 5 ball pythons. Once I build up the large snake enclosure and get myself entirely situated, expect the stream to open once more, this time with even more focus on critters and gems, rather than games~
Expect to hear many happy updates in the very near future~
