[PHOTO] Amtrak Unit 94 leads "The Pennsylvanian" Eastbound
Amtrak Train #42 "The Pennsylvanian" lead by Amtrak unit 94, begins it's daily transit of Pennsylvania as it rolls eastbound into the sunrise. If you look down the track, just before the bridge, you can see two original PRR signals still in use.
Amtrak 94 is a General Electric "Genesis" P42DC. It can provide 3,550 HP to it's traction motors at HEP of 900 RPM and has a top speed of 110 MPH. Train #42 is made up of 5 Commuter Passenger Cars and one Cafe Car. I can confirm the first car is an Amfleet I (Car #81538) and the Cafe Car is an Amfleet I (Car #43383) I can't make out the car numbers on the last four passenger cars to confirm if they are Amfleet I or Amfleet 2 cars. Both styles are Budd Company units.
Amtrak Train #42 traverses the famous Horseshoe Bend while it services the Pennsylvania cities of Greensburg, Altoona, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Philadelphia, along with Trenton (NJ), New York (NY) and other points east.
