It's not a sword, it's a stiletto dagger, so yeah, actually closer to a letter opener XD I feel like the angle is actually okay, though, although things are always a bit funky when working with extreme foreshortening like this. If anything, I think the line of the dagger lines up fine with the hand (as in, if you drew a line through it would go through the hand in an appropriate manner), but that if anything, it's the "3D" angle that's slightly off? As in, the hand is pointed a certain amount directly towards the viewer, and the dagger is pointed a certain amount directly towards the viewer, but those angles feel slightly different. Is that what you mean?
Man, this gets confusing to talk about
Eh, it looks like the Z axis leaving from inside his hand would remain almost constant from left to right, with the tip being only slightly closer to the viewer than the hilt, hence, the blade's 2D growth toward the tip would then be much lower.
It's possible that relates to my assumption that it was a longer weapon, as it just does't look like there's time for it to get that much closer to the viewer.....because of that hand.
OK, I needed to real-world test this, so I just grabbed up one of my own blades and tested a little, and I think I might see what happened. He's making a fist around the hilt as if it were a heavy swinging weapon. But I see my pinky turned in tight, and at the index finger, the knuckles are at very different positions. I even tested this with my hatchet, and it's still evident to a much lesser degree. Try it for yourself.
So.....I hope that's more helpful than annoying.
