Kinda reminds me of a guy I was in the Army with; he would sit on his bed with earphones on to play the guitar and completely tuned the world out. I needed to talk to him one day and finally grabbed the guitar neck below where he was fingering. He looked confused for a moment, dropped down several frets and kept on going. I finally looked at his room mates and asked them to let him know I was there when he came out of it!
