Touching story.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it seems a commentary on the way children are often taught to see the world through their parents' eyes. It takes the better part of their lives to change perspectives, if they manage it at all. Much the same way people develop prejudices and discriminate others, but we all know that the majority of the time that behavior is "learned" not "discovered".
I do enjoy that this has a happy ending, and it is a cheery ending we all want to see. People learning to enjoy life and share the company of others.
Thank you!

My house is similar, or at least my room... *chuckles*
I forgot to mention this in my initial comment, but I found this story even more amusing because it brought this to mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzxsYy8OD0M
