another iconWIP!
This one is one of the more complicated ones that I've done so far, definitely!
this is sorta the "halfway" point... though there's a lot of tedious fiddling about from this point on, so as far as actually time is concerned I'm not sure this is quite halfway. We'll see! This is actually the first icon that Ive done that I'm tracking time on it through the whole process, so it will be... educational!
Anyway, the steps in the process are something like this:
1) do a character study to figure out how you're going to draw it (needs to be somewhat recognizeable in a 100x100 square with very little detail, mostly for file-size reasons)
2) storyboard the animation and present the storyboard to the commissioner to make sure we're on the right track
3) Flesh the storyboard out into a rough animation. All the big important motions should be mostly done. Timing should be more or less accurate to the final product (there will always be slight changes). This is the stage this submission is at
4) "tweak and tween." Up the frame rate by adding tween frames where appropriate. tweak little details and smooth out the figures and motion so everything makes sense. At the end of this step, everything is still sketchy, but the animation is complete
5) ink EVERY FRAME (fkajwelkasjdflakje I'm glad I'm doing this on a Cintiq)
6) Color if necessary!
