As usual: I'm late to the party. Anywho.
The thing I love with all of these Fall Formal pieces is how you manage to mesh the couples so perfectly.
Already, you're a master of clearly and vibrantly capturing emotions in a picture. However, what makes these Fall Formal pictures special to me is how - Hm...How to put it...You're such a master of showing a connection between each and every couple.
Like with this, it's almost painfully hysterical and adorable how "enthusiastic" Zuki is to get going somewhere more...Well, "less public" I'd guess. Plus, Xander's expression clearly shows a young man who's experienced passion's throes and enjoys it.
And when I say "passion's throes," I do of course mean that Zuki must have nearly broken some bones on Xander in the..."Expressions" of love. (By the way, I love creatively using quotation marks. ^3^ )
But to get back to why I love this piece, I think it's really that the image itself needs no text to convey the events and emotions in this single captured scene. The reason this brought me back to your Fall Formal pieces is a Chinese proverb I found yesterday:
"Married couples who love each other tell each other a thousand things without talking."
I know none of these couples are married...Yet. But that's not the point I'm making.
Whether it's just humor or deep expressions of young love, your pieces have a powerful quality:
Commentary notwithstanding, they don't need any attached words or text or blatant visual gags to tell a story.
With only skilled art, you're able to tell an entire story in just a single scene.
And that is part of why I'm such a fan of yours.
...Good Lord. I swear I didn't mean to write a book on this.
You'll have to forgive this atrociously long read.
Even in text, I don't know when to shut up.
