"Guten Aben! Has anyvan seen mein little Hasenliebchen? Ve haf ZO much katching up to do!"
What's black and white and red all over? Greta Groß, that's who! Pronounced "grose." Don't call her "grob," or she gets REALLY mad!!
(Groß = German for "big")
One of Beau's primary love interests throughout his cartoon career, her character was a radical departure from the slender actresses throughout Hollywood, and animation history. Although her character tested very positively with audiences, haughty critics accused Violet Studios of using her as a an unhealthy example, due to what they referred to as obesity. But despite the rantings of wealthy critics, Violet Studios continued to use her in many cartoons.
During World War II, it was anticipated that she would be omitted from cartoons, due to her German heritage. Surprisingly, this was not the case. Instead, she often protrayed a German peasant who assisted foreign soldiers (played by Beau, or the other characters in the franchise) against Hitler, thus showing audiences that it wasn't the German PEOPLE who were evil, it was the regime itself.
Extra Trivia: She loves to bake pastries, and as a result, she smells like freshly baked cookies.
Extra Extra Trivia: The design was partially conceived by
fluffball. And the result was glorious. :)
Extra Extra Extra Trivia: Whenever she walks, a Bavarian Oompah band plays. ;)
