This is a rough character-sheet of Mantka, one of my fantasy novel’s main characters. It’s going to help me keep track of her scars and height compared to other characters and creatures. The silhouette behind her belongs to a “River-Beast”. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/30785120/
Race:
Mantka is a hybrid. Her mother is a noble woman from “Monrast” the kingdom’s capital. It’s kind of fantasy mix between a Mediterranean region and Germany, a huge wealthy trade empire at the coast of the great sea. The father is a horned frost-giant (like 6, 5 feet tall on average) from the splint-wood tribe from the frost-rime island, a very cold, isolated tundra in the far north.
Appearance:
I wanted her to be pretty, but not perfect, so I decided that her face has the fine features of a Monrastanian human, while her hips and legs proportions are more like those of frost-giants. She has her father’s beautiful dark horns and amber-colored eyes. Her hair is naturally blond, but colored red. Red is not a natural color in her world and the kind of alchemy that can do it costs a fortune. A long, red mane is a sign of wealth and status were she is from.
She has a few light scars. Mostly from training accidents, since the Monrastanians have a pretty tight grip on the mainland’s monster-population and real attacks on villages are very rare. But she has private tutors for sword fighting and hand to hand combat.
Her horns show many dents and bruises from hitting doorframes and low hanging business-sighs. The city she inhabits is built for much smaller people and often makes moving around uncomfortable to her.
Age:
She’s 21 at the start of the first book. The legal drinking age is 14, marriage is legal with 18, and joining the military is permitted by 22.
Frost-Giants have a life expectants of 90 to 100 years and Monrastanians 60 to 70 years, so she is going to fall somewhere in between that.
Personality:
Mantka is very competitive and to a certain degree perfectionistic, especially about her fighting skills. She is lively and positive but really not the sharpest tool in the shed. Her goal in life is to be, what she preserves to be, a perfect warrior. Challenges and adventures of any kind are welcome to her, whatever promises a chance to prove herself in battle, almost to the point of acting reckless for the sake of fame.
