IT'S DONE! I mean, not really, but it's done! I started this PMV about a year and a half ago. I was working as a cashier at Ace Hardware at the time, and when things were slow, I would write essays and doodle on blank receipt paper. One night, the inspiration for this video came to me, and I storyboarded almost all of it on about four or five feet of receipt paper in a single night. My original plan was to have it all look like the first nine shots, but I ran out of steam after the first little "scene". I then let it collect dust in my files until today. I found out last night that (spoilers) Leafpool dies in the newest book, so I shifted into maximum overdrive to piece this whole thing together.
I kept the original completed shots, sketched out the stuff in the middle, and put in photos of the original storyboards, hence the Ace logo on the left side of each frame in the final sequence (I wonder if they'll compensate me for the product placement? xD). If you're an artist and you reading this, know that perfectionism will kill your creativity, and it means the stuff you worked hard on might never get uploaded if you're too worried about making everything flawless, so focus on "finished", not on "perfect"!
What you see above are the original completed shots that I made a year and a half ago. <3
Fun fact: this PMV deviates from the canon timeline in the second scene. You can see Brambleclaw looking at Squirrelflight with contempt, meaning he knows she lied about the Three being hers, but in canon, he didn't know this until Hollyleaf revealed it at the Gathering. But then we see Holly with Jayfeather and Lionblaze immediately after, where in canon, by this point, she's already disappeared into the tunnels. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I wanted to showcase the relationship between Squirrel and Leaf, because I don't think it gets anywhere near enough attention. They were always there for each other, even when the whole world was against them. With Leafpool especially, I think she gets a lot of hate she doesn't deserve. She lost everything, everything except her sister, and the two of them deserve so much more love then they get, they're two of my favorite characters. Anyway, R.I.P. Leafpool, and I hope you all enjoy my work! :D
(also i had to name the pmv "2 AM" even though the song is technically called "breathe" because there's already a really popular cinderpelt pmv named "breathe" rip)
